Hi Friends! I love a good transformation, don’t you? I’ve had this drop leaf table in my stash for a while. The finish was in pretty rough shape. Sorry for the blurry picture. I took it my torn up living room. Sometimes when you’re working on a big project, you need a small project to make you feel like you’ve accomplished something.
I knew I wanted to do some kind of typography, farmhouse style of course and give this old table a totally different look. So I stripped down the top and sanded it to have a fresh slate to work with. The bottom I just cleaned and painted with Old Town Paint in Cast Iron. Using Old Town Paint in Cast Iron and Dark Grey, I added the typography to the top. After letting it dry, I gave it a good sanding, then stained the whole top in Cabot Wood Stain, color Walnut. I finished the piece by giving the top 3 coats of Minwax Water Based Polycrylic in Clear Satin. The bottom got 2 coats. And here is what it looks like after:
Love how the graphic looked after I distressed it.
At some point, a dog chewed on the leg. Here’s the before.
I just sanded it down so that no one would get a splinter and painted over it. It’s just part of the piece’s history.
Thank you for stopping by!
